Our last and final day of our 8th graders’ Louisiana Tour adventure began with a trip to St. Joseph Plantation and Felicity Plantation. Students were able to delve into the state's rich history and honor those who paved the way. We enjoyed a delightful lunch experiencing Cajun cuisine. Embarking on Louisiana Tour Day #2, we delved into history at the World War II Museum, honoring brave souls and learning the pivotal events that shaped our world. Our journey continued with a delightful lunch on a paddle wheel boat, cruising the Mississippi River, and exploring the historic battlegrounds of Chalmette. Wrapping up day 2, we embarked on a fascinating walking tour of New Orleans' historical sites, followed by a fantastic time at Dave and Buster's. 📣Shoutout to the Young Men of Youree and Beta Club who tackled the trash this week with their "Team Up to Clean Up" initiative! 🧹🗑️ They hit the T-buildings and hardcourt areas, filling bags and leaving our school sparkling!✨
Not only did they clean up, but they're also making a commitment to keeping Youree litter-free all year long! Every student at YDMS can join in on this pledge - just sign your name on the posters by the 400 wing and cafeteria. Let's show our school pride and keep it clean together!

Get ready for a heartwarming dose of holiday spirit! Our amazing National Junior Honors Society, led by President Kambria Clark and Vice President Miles Herndon, spearheaded a school-wide toy drive that brought mountains of Christmas cheer to Roy's Kids! Students at YDMS truly pitched in this holiday season, transforming the school into a festive gift-giving haven.✨🎁🎄
But the giving didn't stop there! Principal Maria Edwards presented Mike Powell, the founder of Roy's Kids, a $2,000 donation from the school to the charity. This donation will put even more gifts under the tree for the children that Roy's Kids serves. 🙌🏼
It brings us great pride to see our students helping those in need this holiday season.
