The Caddo Parish School Board voted at its Feb. 17 meeting to approve a revision to the current school year’s calendar to recover instructional time lost due to recent winter weather closures.
Under the approved revision, Thursday, March 5 and Friday, March 6 will now be full instructional days for students and staff. Students will follow their regular daily schedules on both days.
March 5 was previously scheduled as an extended workday to accommodate parent-teacher conferences, and March 6 was designated for conferences and professional development with no students in attendance. District leadership recommended the change after consulting with principals to ensure students regain valuable classroom time at a critical point in the semester.
“Time in the classroom matters,” Superintendent Keith Burton said. “Recovering these instructional minutes allows us to maintain academic momentum and continue supporting student achievement across our district.”
Families who wish to schedule conferences with teachers or school leaders are encouraged to contact their child’s school directly to arrange a mutually convenient time.
