This morning Caddo Parish Magnet High celebrated their newest accolade of becoming a Green Ribbon school! Awarded by the U.S. Department of Education, Magnet is one of 27 schools nationwide to receive this prestigious honor. The recognition award is given to schools that have shown their commitment to reduced environmental impact and costs, improved health and wellness of students and staff, and effective environmental and sustainability education. #WeAreCaddo

Polls close in 1 hour for today's election. Caddo Parish School Board has three millage renewals on the ballot that support the operations of the district including salaries, classroom resources and maintenance of schools. #WeAreCaddo #GeauxVote
Today is Election Day in Caddo Parish! Polls are now open. and will remain open until 8 p.m. The Board has three millage renewals on the ballot. These millages fund critical functions of the district including:
* Salaries and benefits for teachers and support staff
* Maintenance and upkeep of school buildings
* Classroom technology
* Curriculum and classroom resources
* Maintenance and fuel for the district's bus fleet
* ADA compliance projects including restrooms, elevators, etc.
* Upgrades of and repairs to heating and air condition of schools and sites

Tomorrow is Election Day as the Caddo Parish School Board asks voters to decide whether to continue three existing millages used to provide for vital operations of schools.
Funding from these millages provides for critical functions of the district including:
* Salaries and benefits for teachers and support staff
* Maintenance and upkeep of school buildings
* Classroom technology
* Curriculum and classroom resources
* Maintenance and fuel for the district's bus fleet
* ADA compliance projects including restrooms, elevators, etc.
* Upgrades of and repairs to heating and air condition of schools and sites
All three propositions have been on the rolls for over 20 years and are already being paid by the citizens of Caddo Parish. Thus, these are not new taxes but a continuation of current rates.
Polls will open at 7 a.m. and remain open until 8 p.m.

On this Earth Day, we celebrate a new honor for the district. One of our campuses has earned an honorable National Green Ribbon! This school is one of 27 across the nation to earn this honor for their efforts in improving the health and wellness of their school, providing effective environmental education and reducing environmental impact. Community meetings begin this evening at 5:30 p.m. at Caddo Parish Magnet High School's auditorium to provide an opportunity for citizens to learn more about the redistricting process for the Caddo Parish School Board and to provide feedback on the proposed district maps created by Data Center, LLC. Early voting is underway. On the ballot, voters are asked to consider the continuation of three millages. One of these renewals is an Operations and Maintenance millage. This millage funds salaries and benefits, curriculum & other essential school operations.
Early voting begins today! Voters can visit the Caddo Parish Registrar of Voters Office, located at 525 Marshall Street, Suite 103 in Shreveport starting today and continuing through next Saturday to vote. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. #geauxvote #caddovotes
